Letter #145

Dear Wholeness,

You are the living portrait of health. You hair glows and your skin radiates. Me, I’m a dirt-under-the-fingernails kind of guy who likes to come inside with a bunch of carrots from the garden and read a little Pascal. Honestly, though, The Tibetan Book of Dying is most definitely an important read. At times there is nothing to do but sit. Nothing to do, real Beckett-like. I’m afraid, though, my sense of the spiritual is pretty grounded here on earth, like giving people the correct change back, in a metaphorical way of being. Lama’s often dig me, stop in their footsteps and have admired the lines of my forehead. I just go on and get a cup of coffee, after nodding, and ask the girl behind the register if she’s having a good day, and get on with my business.

Egbert
